Spike Lee and Keith Olbermann: Mediaite |
Lawrence O’Donnell filled in on MSNBC’s Countdown last night.
But Keith Olbermann was in the building. He announced on his Twitter feed he was filming a new promo for MSNBC – and it appears the new promo will be directed by legendary filmmaker Spike Lee.
To begin the day yesterday, Olbermann tweeted a response to someone who wanted to know what was “in store” for that night’s show: “Nothing! Shooting promos today. LO’D hosts tonight.”
Later in the day, Olbermann tweeted, “Hard at work on the new MSNBC promo,” with the TwitPic you see to the left. Mediaite has confirmed that is Spike Lee in the picture – in what appears to be a role directing a dressed down Olbermann at his desk.
The current run of MSNBC promos look like this – with hosts like Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Joe Scarborough, Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz, Dylan Ratigan and Tamron Hall explaining their shows and styles. Obviously a Spike Lee Joint would be a unique and bold choice for an MSNBC promo. Just speculating here, but maybe tied to midterms as November approaches?
Lee and Olbermann have worked together before (sort of). Lee was a guest on Countdown last week.
